What causes the transmission to go out?
Letting the transmission run out of fluid or operating it with a low fluid level is a guaranteed way to have a transmission breakdown. When the fluid level becomes low or runs completely out, the internal parts begin to grind and overheat which leads to failure.
Should you fill a torque converter?
Not needed. Not only will you make it heavier and harder to install you’ll also make a mess while doing so. The transmission pump will fill the T.C. in no time once you start it after of course putting 5 quarts in before initial start up.
Do you have to remove transmission to replace torque converter?
It is a big job though because the transmission will have to be removed so that the torque converter can be inspected and then replaced so if you’re a beginner, it’s not something you probably want to tackle.
